La Gacilly: a town of photography

I’m not nifty enough with my words to describe this too you so I will just let my photos do the talking. Basically each year in La Gacilly, a huge photography exhibition takes place. Topics ranged from environmental issues, refugees and old Japanese photography.

Best known as the birthplace of natural cosmetics giant Yves Rocher. Rocher became mayor and served from 1962-2008, office was then taken over by his son Jacques Rocher who is currently serving.

Why is this important? These two men are the driving force behind the photo festival. Jacques created the festival in 2004 which is run by the Yves Rocher Foundation. The exhibitions always have a strong theme of people and the environment. It’s principal aim is to make people think about the future of the planet and our impact as human beings.
